Batman: Give Robert Pattinson a chance before judging him

Calm down, Batman fans. Robert Pattinson could be phenomenal.

The role of Batman has had its ups and downs recently. Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy starred Christian Bale’s and is looked at as one of the best movies in the book genre. Before that, there was Val Kilmer and George Clooney. Performances that almost ruined the franchise. Ben Affleck was the most recent Batman and was said to be the best by some and terrible by others.

It looks like DC Comics is swinging for the fences again with another Batman casting. Twilight’s Robert Pattinson is the frontrunner to play the Dark Knight in the next Batman movie. Fans are already up and arms and nothing has been finalized. Even Jimmy Kimmel is making fun of this.

Robert Pattinson’s role as Edward Cullen in the Twilight movies has left him as a bit of a leper to comic book fans. Even the people who love those films have concerns. This isn’t the first time something like this has happened. Heath Ledger wasn’t welcomed with open arms until he was on screen. He performance as Joker is now looked at as one of the best villains in movie history. Comic book writer Dan Slott tweeted,

"“Reminder: I’m old enough to remember the outrage that the actor from “MR. MOM” was cast as Batman. And he turned out to be an EXCELLENT Batman. For a generation he was THE Batman. Just wait. You never know.”"

He remembers when Michael Keaton was cast as Batman in the Tim Burton movies and people were upset. Keaton went on to be one of the more popular actors to play a superhero. So why not give him a chance to prove how good he is?

At the end of the day, we should all be patient. Besides Twilight, Pattinson has other movies that he’s been in that were revered. One in particular is a movie called Good Time. Pattinson was phenomenal and showed that he has more range than he’s been given credit for. Before he was cast, who would have thought that Chris Evans, the guy who was in Not Another Teen Movie and played Johnny Storm in two Fantastic Four movies) would incredible as Captain America and vastly improve on the character as time went on?

Pattinson could give the performance of a lifetime and leave everyone eating their words or he could be one of the worst. Either way, give him time to prove himself before we bring out the torches, pitchforks, and petitions.
