2. Killing Gamora

Movie: Avengers: Infinity War

Thanos took Gamora from her home planet when she was just a child. He saw something in her the moment they met. He walked away with her and taught her about balance, as he shielded her from seeing his men kill her family and half of the other inhabitants. He’s looked at Gamora as his daughter ever since. He raised her to be one of the deadliest fighters in galaxy and even referred to her as his favorite daughter.

In order for Thanos to get the Soul Stone, he had to kill something he loved. Gamora laughed because she didn’t think her father loved anything, until he turned around and faced her with a tear in his eye. Thanos dragged her to the edge of the cliff and tossed her onto the ground below. After the snap, he meets a younger version of Gamora. She asks what getting what he wanted cost him. He solemnly says, “Everything.”

We knew about Thanos the killer, leader, and invader. Who would have known he had a heart, as well. He didn’t kill Gamora lightly. If he was going to do what he thought was right for the galaxy, he had to sacrifice her. We learned that Thanos isn’t the heartless monster he appears to be. His mission caused a lot of death, but was made out of love.
