Monsters run amok in Sabrina the Teenage Witch No. 2
By Alex Widen
The Smaller the Town, the Bigger Its Secrets!
It isn’t Batman’s infamous lair, but it does bare some similarities to that and other heroic bases. It’s a secret chamber of the house that Hilda unlocks with a hidden switch attached to a plaque of Circe, the Greek sorceress of legend. It leads to a lower floor which bares all sorts of arcane potions, plants, weapons, tomes, and other supernatural artifacts of lore. Despite her frequent attempts to live as “normally” as possible, not even Sabrina can resist the allure of the room’s secrets.

Hilda and Zelda reveal (via another spell, of course) that they didn’t choose Greendale at random. It is an epicenter of ancient magic and mystical creatures; enough so that their “witches council” is based there. The Kraken is a legendary beast of Scandinavian folklore; yet neither Zelda or Hilda detect the presence of so mighty a being. While Sabrina merely suspects her aunts are underestimating her, they hint that the source of the monster may not be magical at all.

The next day at Greendale High begins about the same as the first — boredom mixed with chaos. Sabrina can barely stay awake in chemistry class, and the pun-filled posters around her aren’t helping. Radka is yelling at another hapless student, this time an obvious “geek” named Allen. Looking and acting like Dilton Doiley‘s brother from another mother, he’s spilled some chemicals on Radka’s sweater, and is acting like he can’t even see her, even when she’s screaming in his face!
