The life of Jennika Ebbs in TMNT Free Comic Book Day 2019

Deadlier Than Any Uber Ride Ever!
Ever since 2002, thanks in part to the debut of Sony’s historic Spider-Man film, the first Saturday in May has been dubbed “Free Comic Book Day” by retailers everywhere. Publishers from the big to the small use this day to promote their wares with free material — at least to customers. Sometimes these are reprints, while other times it is original material. For the second time within two years, IDW’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise has not only produced an original strip, but it is a strip which is critical to its ongoing series!

Written and drawn by the same creators behind the regular issues of TMNT, it picks up right where Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles No. 93 left off. The Shredder’s “granddaughter,” Karai, has made her move to reclaim the Foot Clan from Master Splinter. Peaceful negotiations have broken down, and Karai has struck first blood. Jennika, a longtime Foot soldier who is both Splinter’s “second” and Casey Jones’ latest squeeze, has been stabbed through the gut. Now, Jennika is bleeding out in the back of the Turtles’ van, as the foursome, alongside Alopex, Nobody, and Jones, rush to save her!

Karai hasn’t made it easy for them. As if the struggle to save the life of Jennika without any medical equipment (or training) wasn’t intense enough, her mutant minions are after them. The first is Koya, whose newly formed magical wings are literally fueled by anger — at Leonardo in particular, and the world in general. The raging mutant hawk is almost about to overtake the van when Angel Bridge — still using her hi tech “Nobody” armor — takes the fight to her directly!
