Spider-Man and Deadpool: Their history and debuting Deadpool in MCU

The history of Deadpool and Spider-Man and why debuting Wade Wilson in a Spider-Man movie is smart.

Deadpool became the crown jewels of the 20th Century Fox Marvel brand. While the X-Men movies have been hit or miss, the Fantastic Four being, well, terrible, and the Gambit project being up in the air, Deadpool and Deadpool 2 remained hits at the box office and fan favorites. Meanwhile, the Spider-Man franchise has been rebooted 3 times. Thankfully, the third time’s the charm.

Tom Holland has been looked at as the most complete Spider-Man/Peter Parker combo we’ve gotten. Why are these characters being put together in this article? Because we could be looking at them together in the future.

Per MCUcosmic.com, there are three possible ways for Deadpool to be introduced in the Marvel Cinematic Universe; a third Deadpool movie, a Disney Plus limited series, or an appearance in the third Spider-Man movie. Each of these would be a great way to debut the Merc with a Mouth in the MCU. The third may bare the most fruit since both characters use their humor to keep people off guard, both are underrated fighters, and having Deadpool in the movie helps get exposure for Deadpool and brings his fans to go see a Spider-Man movie when they normally wouldn’t. While this is a great choice to bring them together, it’s not likely that the two of them would be immediate friends or partners.

Spider-Man doesn’t hate a lot of things and always tries to find the best in everyone. Deadpool is a different case. He’s a contract killer with little remorse. Because of this, Spider-Man and Wade were almost always at each other’s throats. As time went on, Wade tried to become a better person. While he wasn’t exactly a hero, he was trying to live the life of one. However, he would slip. Some of those slip-ups ended up with Spider-Man beating the snot out of Wade.

In Cable and Deadpool No. 24, Wade almost killed an innocent man. Luckily, the guy was Peter Parker. They fought, Spider-Man won easily. In Deadpool: Monkey Business, Wade enlisted the help of Spider-Man to stop Hit Monkey (he’s a hit-man that’s also a monkey). It ends with Wade telling Spider-Man he wants to be a hero. Spidey corrects him by saying, “No, you want people to love you for being the good guy. That’s not the same thing.” In Deadpool: Suicide Kings, Deadpool was framed for a murder and ran into Spidey again. After Daredevil convinced Spider-Man Wade was innocent, the two worked together to get the people responsible for Wade getting framed.

Wade Wilson and Spider-Man can be seen teaming up in the ongoing comic book series Spider-Man/Deadpool. While it will end with issue No. 5-, there’s no way these two won’t cross paths in the future. Wade Wilson will always be the Merc with a Mouth who kills for money. However, he always finds a way to try and be a better person. Spider-Man remains the hero who tries to be the better person, not kill, and try to stop anyone who does. If the two of them meet in the MCU, it will be pure gold. Not just the fight scenes between the two of them, but watching Deadpool try and convince Spider-Man that he’s doing the right thing by killing with be hilarious. Too bad it can’t be rated-R.
