Raphael Takes the Fight to Null in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles No. 94
By Alex Widen
Is Hob’s Offer Null and Void?
Old Hob and the Mutanimals have struck out against the Null Group before, but this time they’ve gained far more powerful weapons. Their ordeal on Burnow Island allowed them to obtain (or steal) some Triceraton weapons, including laser canons and a giant flying spaceship! Rocketing the tower with explosions, they catch the demonic Null completely off guard, and lay waste to her robotic minions. Eagle eyed readers might note that they resemble some of the drones from the first season of the 1987 animated series, as well as the first Konami arcade game.

Raphael helps lead the fight against Null’s zombie-like guards on the upper floors, but he’s merely along for the ride. The element of surprise with superior firepower has quickly brought the Mutanimals to the brink of victory. It’s all that Null can do to escape unscratched. Her company mass produces mutants — usually from stolen pets — and Null’s surrounded herself with her own mutants. Chief among them is the hilarious amoral Zodi (the scorpion) and the conflicted Krisa (a snake). Luckily for Null, killing mutants to avenge mutants is a line Sally won’t cross.

Once Raphael joins Mondo Gecko blow ground, he discovers that Hob’s raid of the Null Group was only partly an assassination attempt. His genuine objective was to use Triceraton tech to raid her company of all of its secrets. This includes endless plans and designs for mass producing mutants at a clip which would have given Krang pause. Old Hob’s designs to create his own mutant army have been long and piecemeal. Pigeon Pete, Mondo, and Herman the Hermit Crab are all his creations, with some assist from Lindsey. He offers Raphael an army, and his answer’s shocking!
