Jessica Jones season 3: All we need is a fantastic finale
By Mark Lynch
All the fans need is a great finale to make Jessica Jones complete.
The Netflix Marvel series released their first project with Daredevil on April 10, 2015, a show that was an almost immediate hit. The Marvel and Netflix shows will end on June 14th with Jessica Jones. Netflix started canceling their series last year.
First, Luke Cage got the axe and Iron Fist soon followed. Fans saw the writing on the wall but hoped for the best. Especially since both Luke Cage and Iron Fist ended with cliffhangers and people were hoping for a Daughters of the Dragon project. Unfortunately, Daredevil and Punisher were next to be canceled. Jessica Jones will be the last of the Marvel Netflix shows.
Jessica Jones has provided a lot. We got a strong woman unlike anything we’ve seen in a Marvel project. She wasn’t your’ typical hero and that’s what made everyone love her. She cursed, drank, and despite her demeanor, she had a giant heart. It’s a shame that this will be the final season. The good news for Jessica Jones fans is the creative team had an advantage going in. They knew this was going to be the final season.

The final season of Daredevil ended with Foggy Nelson, Matt Murdock, and Karen Page coming together and planning to start a law firm. While the show could have gone on from there, it at least has an ending without leaving too many unanswered questions. Even Dex having the Bullseye in his eyes wasn’t so bad. Disappointing for sure, but not horrible. Luke Cage ends with Luke becoming the kingpin of Harlem and not wanting to see his girlfriend Claire Temple. Iron Fist finishes with Colleen Wing being the Iron Fist of New York and Danny Rand getting his powers back. Jessica Jones has the opportunity to finish her series better than all of them by giving everyone some kind of closure.
Having a phenomenal finale would mean a lot to the fans. We’ve seen shows like Deadwood and Firefly get canceled and have to resort to a movie to get closure. Jessica Jones can be the show that doesn’t do this. It can wrap everything up in a bow and leave us all satisfied. It’s doubtful it’ll be a happy ending (because it’s Jessica Jones after all), it would be nice to see it happen. Granted, there is more we wanted to see. Like her and Luke Cage dating and having a kid. Since we can’t get everything we want, it would be great to at least get closure on Jessica Jones.
I have faith that the creative staff of the show and Marvel knows what it means to end this era right. We may not get conclusions to the rest of the Defenders, but we can get one from Jessica Jones.
