Genosha
Genosha was once a hellish place for mutants. An island where mutants were slaves. After Magneto took over, it became a beacon of hope for mutants. Mutants from all over the world would come to live a normal life that would be free of judgement. Kitty Pryde’s father lived there as well and he was human. Since the world didn’t want them in their countries, mutants now had a place of their own. It’s too bad that nothing good lasts for mutants.
A villain named Cassandra Nova took control over some of the biggest Sentinels in the world and demolished the island nation of Genosha. Xavier was hooked up to Cerebra and was helpless as he watched over ten million mutants die. Some of them survived but had to live with the images of watching the people they loved die as they survived.
Professor Xavier left the Xavier School for Gifted Youngsters to try and rebuild the island. After M-Day, that dream died. All of the mutants who were helping Xavier rebuild the nation lost their powers. Among those mutants was Xavier’s friend and enemy Magneto.
Genosha seems to be a place full of bad luck. The sad part is it could have been the greatest place in comic books. The attempted genocide of Genosha will remain one of the worst tragedies in comics.
