There are a lot of comic books that come out every week, and it can be hard to try and navigate the waters to find something new, or for a first-time reader, to find a good starting point.

This week’s pull list has a little bit of everything, as some titles are just getting started, and one makes its long-awaited return

Silver Surfer Black No. 1

Writer: Donny Cates

Artist: Tradd Moore

It’s always good to have a Silver Surfer book on the shelves, and one coming out of Guardians of the Galaxy No. 1 as a spin-off title. Writer Donny Cates continues his Marvel takeover, as he has become the go-to writer for the cosmic Marvel Universe. The secret ingredient in this book will be Tradd Moore’s art, which will bring the Silver Surfer to life, and it seems as though Moore’s art is the perfect pairing for a Cates Silver Surfer comic book.

After it was announced that the Batman Who Laughs series would get a 7th issue, the penultimate issue of this miniseries is a must-read before the big conclusion of this popular book. The Batman Who Laughs has finally made his way to Wayne Manor, and the final confrontation between him and Batman will be underway. Writer Scott Snyder has created a character, which was spun off Dark Knights: Metal, that has really resonated with fans and creators alike, which makes this a must-read this week.

Outer Darkness No. 7

Writer: John Layman

Artist: Afu Chan

One of the most fun and unique titles out right now, Outer Darkness, makes its triumphant return, as writer John Layman and artist Afu Chan are back to give us tales of deep space ghosts and demons. When we last saw the crew, they had barely survived a crash landing on a snow planet, which left much of the crew members dead after a demon who infiltrated their ranks diminished their numbers. One big secret was revealed at the end of issue No. 7 that will hopefully play a big part in Volume 2 starting this week.

Spider-Man: Life Story No. 4

Writer: Chip Zdarsky

Artist: Mark Bagley

Writer Chip Zdarsky and artist Mark Bagley created such a unique book in Spider-Man: Life Story, in which readers watch Spider-Man age with each issue as decades roll by. It’s almost shocking to see our hero age with time in this fashion. Spider-Man: Life Story No.4 now takes us into the 1990s, where Nirvana and Jurassic Park ruled the world. As Peter Parker starts to hit middle age, how will that affect his powers, and how will his being a superhero affect his family?
