12. Dimitri Is Actually The Chameleon

While the majority of Spider-Man: Homecoming‘s cast will be returning for Spider-Man: Far From Home, and will be joined by a few MCU veterans, one new cast member will be Numan Acar. The actor, who has appeared in Homeland, Prison Break and Aladdin, is set to portray a character by the name of Dimitri – an associate of Nick Fury.

While little else has been revealed about the mysterious character, that hasn’t stopped fans from noticing a similarity between him and a certain familiar foe of Spidey’s. Though its spelt slightly differently, Dimitri does indeed share a name with The Chameleon (a.k.a. Dmitri Smerdyakov), leading many to believe that he and the iconic Spider-Man villain are one in the same.

In the comics, The Chameleon is a master of disguise and has often used his impressive skills to go undercover in the most unlikely of situations, meaning that he could literally be anyone he darn well wants to be.

This wouldn’t be the first time that an MCU film has hidden famous rogues under the radar and, if anything, this has spawned a ton of theories about the potential villain’s role in Spider-Man: Far From Home, particularly in relation to another main character (more on that one later).

The fact that Dimitri is an associate of Fury does throw a spanner in the works but, given that we’ve seen a lot stranger things happen in the MCU and the fact that we’re not even sure the film’s villain is actually the villain, there is still a rather strong possibility that the master of disguise is manipulating Fury and, by extension, Spider-Man himself.
