Spider-Man in Columbia Pictures’ Spider-Man: Far From Home

9. The Stealth Suit Is Actually Spider-Man Noir

Spider-Man: Far From Home is set to introduce a number of different Spider-Man suits – one of which is an all-black design complete with Spidey-goggles. While this is likely a more tactical (and, perhaps more importantly, less colorful) suit designed by Nick Fury to allow Peter to partake in covert missions, some have speculated that it might not actually be Peter at all… well, not our version of him at least, as the suit bears an unmistakable resemblance to the one that has become synonymous with the version of Spider-Man that appeared in Marvel’s alternate Noir reality.

A mini series that ran between 2009 and 2010, Marvel Noir was a different continuity that took some of the imprint’s most iconic characters and utilized elements of film noir to give them a more gritty, personal story. One of those characters was, of course, Spider-Man and, let’s just say that this version of him wasn’t as colorful as his mainstream counterpart.

A struggling reporter during 1933’s Great Depression, Peter was bitten by a venomous spider while investigating and, well, you know the rest. However, he would use his abilities in a more violent manner, donning an all-black stealth suit with aviator goggles and brandishing firearms as he unleashed hell on the criminals of New York as the vigilante known as “The Spider-Man.”

The outfit certainly fitted the environment so, the question remains, why does a variation of it show up in Spider-Man: Far From Home?

While it’s possible that, like his darker counterpart, Peter will experience heartache over Tony’s death in the film and thus, will ultimately choose a suit to match his mood, the multiverse could actually be responsible for this, introducing the real dark avenger into the fray.
