What Made Carol Sick?

Yet their appearance is even more fleeting that Winter Soldier’s was last issue. The real show is the mind-swapped duo against Amora for all the marbles. The pair have decided to play to their strengths by having Carol (as Strange) blast energy which Stephen (as Danvers) is able to absorb and channel into an explosive blast! And while it effectively clears the area of the undead, all it does is draw Amora’s attention to them specifically. Carol tries a binding spell, but she’s still a muggle.

Instead, Carol utilizes  her experience about villains and chains of command. Realizing her minions are expendable to her, Carol seems to will herself to cast a spell causing the zombies to revolt. Since Amora isn’t a natural goddess of the dead (like Hela), it took considerable energy to command a horde that large for so long. In trying to avoid being literally buried by the dead, Amora unleashes her own explosive blast, which just so happens to undo the mind-swap!

With the mind swap over and Amora defeated, Carol and Strange come to an understanding. They have more of a sense of what the other goes through, with Strange even acknowledging that Carol came up with that idea faster than he would have. They both also admit that Black Widow is kind of insane, and bonding over the faults of a friend is often how people bridge gaps. Unfortunately, when Carol returns home, she’s coughing up blood into a napkin! Is it a side effect of Amora’s spell, or something else entirely?
