Marvel had Anthony Mackie signed for 10 films
Marvel Studios’ contract with actor Anthony Mackie was for 10 films, per his interview with Men’s Health.
Anthony Mackie watched his Avengers status take off in Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame. From Falcon to assuming a top mantle, his future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is as bright as anyone in this film franchise.
The road began for Mackie in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, introducing Sam Wilson to moviegoers. As it turned out, that was the first of Mackie’s long contract with Marvel Studios.
Per the actor’s interview with Men’s Health, he originally signed a 10-picture deal to appear in MCU films. That may have changed with the Falcon and The Winter Soldier series for Disney Plus, but it is still a significant commitment to the studio.
How far into that deal is Mackie? Below is all the MCU films he has appeared in:
- Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014)
- Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015)
- Ant-Man (2015)
- Captain America: Civil War (2016)
- Avengers: Infinity War (2018)
- Avengers: Endgame (2019)
That means Mackie is barely over the halfway mark of his Marvel deal. If the Disney Plus series factors, that leaves three films for him to appear in.
With the MCU’s future unclear, could the 40-year-old actor be poised for his own trilogy? Three Captain America movies already released, and within a five-year span. If the wait draws until 2021 or 2022 for the first of this new film series, it will mark five to six years since Civil War arrived.
Marvel’s arrival at July’s San Diego Comic-Con could explain what is next for Mackie, since no Phase 4 plans are known. There is the television series, but the billion-dollar movie industry will be the focus.
