49. Captain Marvel – California

California (The Golden State) was the 31st state to join the union in 1850. It’s known for a plethora of things. First off, there’s the Golden Gate Bridge. A marvel of modern construction. California is known to have one of the richest farm regions in the country. Of course, there’s Hollywood where hundreds of people have made their name whether it was television, film, and other broadcasting mediums. One of the greatest things California can be proud of is their progressive nature.

The people of California have been on the frontlines when it comes to acceptance. Whether they are protesting for the rights of the LGBTQ community or standing up for the rights of people in general, Californians are there to let people know that human rights belong to everyone. If there’s anyone in the MCU that represents fighting for change, it’s Captain Marvel.

Brie Larson is letting the world know that it’s time to change things and her comic book persona is doing the same. She helped a group of alien refugees (the Skrulls) fight for the right to live. You could also see Carol Danvers standing up to a misogynist who told her to smile more. Captain Marvel represents everything that places like San Francisco stand for. Tolerance for everyone and fighting for what you believe in.
