The New Archie Universe Is Better and Bolder Than Ever!

This is the second relaunched Archie Comics title Veronica Fish has worked on; she handled a few issues of Archie after Fiona Staples kicked things off. As such, she’s always reliable when it comes to modern redesigns with current senses of fashion. Sabrina looks very much like a kid of today without losing her ironic hair, or freckles. Salem, of course, is always Salem. Hilda and Zelda have rarely looked better. Yet it’s often the monster designs that steal the issue. The serpent this time around is remarkable and unlike many other monsters typically seen in comics.

Next. Monsters, monsters Everywhere in No. 2!. dark

From the suspense of the forest chase to the humor of Salem’s body language, to all of the amusing teenage drama in between, Sabrina The Teenage Witch is the total package. In fact, the only real tragedy is that it’s a miniseries and not the start of a long run between Thompson and Fish. There’s something for every kind of comic book reader here, so long as they put some misconceptions about the franchise or Archie Comics aside and embrace the comic that exists. A good comic book run where the writer and artist are in sync is its own kind of magic, and this miniseries practically glows with it.
