DCEU: The Flash solo movie finds its director, again
Better late than never when it comes to The Flash, as It director Andy Muschietti will take on the DCEU’s Scarlet Speedster solo film.
The DCEU’s Flash movie has been running in place for years. It’s easy to lose count of the amount of times Flash’s script was rewritten and the number of directors who jumped ship. With Walter Hamada taking over the DCEU, there was hope we would get some positive news — and we got it.
Spider-Man: Homecoming writers, Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein signed up to take on the project, but things didn’t go as planned. The Flash ran through a number of directors that included Seth Grahame-Smith, Rick Famuyiwa, and the duo of Daley and Goldstein can add their names to the list of drop-outs.
According to THR, there’s something new brewing with the DCEU’s Flash solo film. That’s right, the Flash found a new team to take on the project.
"“’Flash’ Shocker: ‘It’ Director Andy Muschietti in Talks to Tackle DC Movie… Christina Hodson… is being eyed to write the script.”"
This news hopefully seals the deal on a move fans have wanted since the 2017 tease. During the early development stages of the old DCEU Flash, fans were made to believe the solo film would take us through Flashpoint.
Can we still see Flashpoint?
There’s no doubt Flashpoint could still happen. It’s dark, deadly and suited for Muschietti’s talents. Flashpoint takes fans into alternate dystopian universe created by Barry Allen. It’s a world where the heroes of the DC Universe aren’t same heroes we know and love.
It also gives the DCEU an excuse to rewrite the timeline like Fox did with the X-Men aftef Days of Future Past. Plus, the animated movie, Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox was an amazing adaption. Still, it’s not something we need.
Moreover, Christina Hudson deserves to write her own script. After all, she’s making a name for herself, as the writer of the critically acclaimed film Bumblebee. Additionally, she also penned Cathy Yan’s Birds of Prey.
Ezra Miller is still attached to the film, despite rumors casting him aside. If they move on, there are some actors who would run away with the role.
As for Iris West, Kiersey Clemons hasn’t dropped out, yet. Let’s hope she stays on and the ball gets rolling for this new Flash movie. With Hudson pinning the script and Muschietti behind the camera can fans finally get excited about Warner Bros. and DC’s The Flash?
