What’s Next for Rogue, Gambit, and Kelly Thompson?
Perhaps it is more proof to the credo that good things rarely last. It also leads to some fun speculation as to what Thompson’s next project at Marvel will be. For the moment she’s on Captain Marvel, along with sporadic Jessica Jones digital comics for Marvel Unlimited and midway through a Sabrina the Teenage Witch miniseries for Archie Comics.
Considering she’s written the character as a cast member or a guest star in two runs and that it’s been almost six months between volumes, could a Thompson-led relaunch of She-Hulk be inevitable? Heck, considering her skill with fun crime fighting couples, Thompson headlining a Renew Your Vows revival would work too!

It’s also possible that Rogue and Gambit could return in another form (or Hawkeye & Her Avengers, for that matter). Or perhaps a revival of the Netflix inspired Defenders series headlined by Jessica Jones.
Regardless, for now, fans bid farewell to a series which may have at times distracted itself but, at heart, showcased why long-term romance isn’t the bane to serialized comics, but an incredible boon. In the eyes of many fans, this is THE couple of the X-Men, and it was great to see them in a series which redefined their love and made their complicated pasts work in harmony with each other.
