5 major questions we have after Spider-Man: Far From Home
2. Can The Damage Be Undone?
Look, Spider-Man: Far From Home may have been busy dealing with the game-changing occurrences from Avengers: Endgame, but that didn’t stop it from throwing in a few game-changing moments of its own. And the mid-credits scene is all the proof we need of that.
With J. Jonah Jameson’s Daily Bugle breakdown airing the doctored footage of Spidey “killing” Mysterio and subsequently revealing his true identity, the foundations of the superhero’s life were rocked.
Not only does the public now think that the friendly neighborhood (and universe)-saving Spider-Man is a murderer, they also know his real name. Yes, in a single breath, Jameson changed Peter Parker’s life for good… or did he?
It’s true that this does all seem very groundbreaking, but was the shocking turn of events the mother of all cliffhangers simply because it was the final cliffhanger of Phase 3? And, if so, does that mean its reversible?
It does seem a little cruel to out Peter’s identity so early on when he still has his whole life ahead of him, especially when doing so incriminates him in a potential murder investigation – not-to-mention the fact that it makes May, M.J. and Ned targets for any potential threat.
Iron Man’s revelation of his own true identity to the public worked because it was totally in line with the character, Spidey, however, doesn’t need to adopt the public role because his youthful approach is much more effective when there is anonymity to it.
With that in mind, it’s possible that Peter and/or Happy could find a way to reverse the damage. Who knows, maybe the Daily Bugle needs a photographer to capture Spider-Man… you know, one that could prove that he isn’t actually the web-slinger?
