1. What’s Next For The MCU?

Spider-Man: Far From Home was, in many ways, both the question and answer to some of the biggest uncertainties surrounding the future of the MCU.

On one hand, it’s now abundantly clear why it was chosen as the shared universe’s final installment – it dealt with the aftermath of Endgame and also answered some of the biggest questions that remained from it. But on the other hand, it didn’t seem all that, for lack of a better term, final. So the million dollar question is: What’s next?

From what we could gather from the film, The Avengers aren’t all that active, Thor is off-world and Captain Marvel’s whereabouts remain a mystery. As a result, Spidey was clearly set up as the successor of sorts, the leader of the next generation if you will and, by extension, the headlining hero of Phase Four.

He’s been cleverly positioned as Tony Stark’s successor over the past few years and, after all this time, he has finally ascended to the top – even if the world does know his true identity.

Then of course, you have Nick Fury who, by the looks of things, isn’t ready to go quietly into the night just yet.

The former Director of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s residence aboard a spaceship with an army of Skrulls doing his bidding may have been a unique way of referencing the past through some clever Captain Marvel backstory, but it may also allude to the future – as some fans are now convinced that this suggests that we might see the introduction of S.W.O.R.D. (Sentient World Observation and Response Department) – the space counterpart to S.H.I.E.L.D.

The first three phases were very much influenced by both Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D., and now that the infamous organization no longer exists (not-to-mention the fact that the biggest threat of them all came from space), it may be time for a new one.

Whatever comes next, one thing is for sure – big changes are ahead for Marvel’s Cinematic Universe.
