Legends of Tomorrow season 5 big bad has been revealed

The main villain of Legends of Tomorrow’s fifth season has been revealed, and we have already seen her in action.

The fourth season of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow took the show into darker territory than ever before.

With the full-time introduction of John Constantine, the arrival of the demon known as Neron and the unnerving trip into Hell, things got pretty disturbing at one point – leading fans to believe that the show would once again look on the bright side in Season 5.

Other than the fact that it won’t be returning to our screens until the beginning of next year, very little was known about the upcoming season. However, that has all changed, as the identity of the new Big Bad has been revealed, and it turns out that we’re already rather familiar with her.

In an exclusive interview with Entertainment Weekly, Legends‘ executive producer Keto Shimzu revealed that Olivia Swann, who portrays Astra Logue, has been promoted to a series regular and will indeed serve as the main villain of the upcoming installment. He commented:

"“We’re so excited about having Astra back this season as our big bad…”"

Fans of the show will remember that Astra, who had been a haunting presence in John Constantine’s life since NBC’s short-lived Constantine series, finally showed up in the penultimate episode of the season – only she was a fully-grown adult.

Instead of suffering an eternal damnation in Hell (after Constantine had to send her there), she was thriving and, as a result, she derived great pleasure in torturing him for his sins.

Though the pair did put their differences aside for their own benefit, the concluding moments of the season – in which Astra released some of the world’s darkest souls from hell – suggested that she ultimately still had evil intentions.

Now, it looks like we’re going to find out just how evil those intentions are.
