HBO Max, the new streaming service to launch next year, has been confirmed to not be affecting the DC Universe platform.

At the height of this streaming war, predicted over a year agoTHR reported on Warner Bros. Digital Network Group announcement that they would launch a streaming service under the DC Entertainment, which is now known as DC Universe. At the time, we also heard of another streaming service to be released this year back now known as Disney Plus by (WDDTCI) Walt Disney Direct-to-Consumer & International under The Walt Disney Company. Now, it seems another service is set to join the fray.

Set for release in spring 2020 is HBO Max, an exclusive streaming service, which has been said “likely to cost slightly more” than $14.99 priced by HBO Now, yet another OTT (over-the-top) video-on-demand monthly subscription service under the WarnerMedia umbrella. In the wake of THR’s report that long-running sitcom Friends is moving from Netflix to its HBO Max, they confirmed that OTT platforms other than HBO Now like HBO Go, CW Seed and the aforesaid DC Universe will remain as are they, but could change in the future.

More from DC Universe

WarnerMedia made their first shot by announcing HBO Max. Io9 and The Wall Street Journal reported the full scope of details regarding the service. HBO Max will offer a direct-to-consumer experience targeted at families and everyone to enjoy. In addition to HBO Max, there’s also a wide range of programming from WarnerMedia’s library, such as HBO, Cartoon Network, Adult Swim, Crunchyroll, Warner Bros., New Line, The CW, CNN, DC Entertainment, TNT, truTV and so much more.

In addition to the tentpole programming for HBO Max, which is over 10,000 hours of content, the digital platform has a broad scope of original programming known as Max Originals.
