SDCC 2019: Arrow season 8 trailer has been unveiled

New missions, new suits and old faces; the very first trailer for Arrow’s final season was unveiled at San Diego Comic-Con, and it’s going to be a real game-changer.

Arrow‘s eighth season will mark the end of an era. The 10-episode final offering will officially bring an end for the show that, quite frankly, reinvigorated superhero television and, in doing so, spawned a shared universe (or should that be “multiverse”?), full of heroes, villains, metahumans and monsters known simply as the Arrowverse.

On that note, Season 8 won’t just bring Arrow to a close, it will change the game for the Arrowverse itself as will build towards the long-teased “Crisis On Infinite Earths” crossover, meaning that The Flash, Supergirl, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow and Batwoman will all be involved in the adaptation of the iconic comic book storyline.

With so much riding on it, you can bet that the cast’s final Comic-Con appearance was an emotional one, as leading man Stephen Amell and leading lady Katie Cassidy Rodgers returned to San Diego (the place in which they both started this adventure back in 2012), along with David Ramsey, Juliana Harkavy and Rick Gonzalez.

The main event of that panel, however, was the unveiling of a brand new trailer. Like previous years trailers, it looked back at some of the events of Season 7 before giving us a look at some of the first footage from Season 8, and what a sight it was. Check it out below:

While most of the trailer was a reflection on all the show has accomplished during its seven previous seasons, it all built towards some new footage in the closing moments.

It appears that Oliver, clad in his new suit, will battle a host of villains, while crossing paths with alternate versions of Tommy Merlyn and Adrian Chase. He will also cross paths with John Diggle, who does appear to be our Earth-1 version.

However, the most striking detail of them all was the fact that Laurel Lance/Black Siren (who is now the Black Canary) is sporting a brand new suit – which looks nothing short of amazing.

More from Arrowverse

With Oliver saving the multiverse with The Monitor, it appears that we’re going to get to see how Laurel, Dinah, Diggle and Rene cope in a Star City without the Green Arrow, as it all builds towards the huge crossover

That’s not all we learned, however, as the cast also revealed at Comic-Con that Cassidy Rodgers would direct her first episode of the show, and that each episode would have more of a mini-movie kind of feel (as opposed to the serialized format the show usually adopts).

Arrow‘s conclusion may indeed be the end of an era, but if this trailer is anything to go by, it’s going to go out in a blaze of glory.
