By Erik Swann
Young Justice has officially been greenlit for a fourth season at DC Universe
Young Justice was one of DC Universe’s most anticipated series and, so far, it hasn’t disappointed. With this, fans have been clamoring for a fourth season, and they’re going to get their wish.
At the show’s San Diego Comic-Con panel, Young Justice co-creators Greg Weisman and Brandon Vietti confirmed that the series has been renewed for a fourth season. Not only that, but the pair revealed that the upcoming season is already in active production. Following the announcement, Vietti took to Twitter to share his excitement about the renewal and thank the fans for their support:
More from DC Universe
- James Gunn’s Superman: Legacy casts more major DC characters
- New Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom trailer pushes Arthur to his limits
- 7 actors who could replace Ezra Miller as The Flash in the DC Universe
- Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will have a battle pass (and that’s a bad sign)
- Harley Quinn renewed for a fifth season on Max (and it’s well-deserved)
The show is currently airing the second half of its third season, which is slated to finish up next month. The season, subtitled Outsiders, has received positive reviews from fans and critics and kicked off its run as a ratings hit. While the numbers have taken a slight dip during the second half, they have stayed consistent.
Young Justice has been through a lot since it first debuted on Cartoon Network in 2010. After airing two seasons on the channel, the show was abruptly cancelled in 2013. But fans weren’t ready to give up on the series, and they launched an online campaign in the hopes of reviving it. This, paired with the show’s strong numbers on Netflix, led Warner Bros. to renew it for a new season back in 2016.
The show originally centered on a covert superhero team, which consisted of Justice League mentees Robin, Aqualad, Kid Flash, Miss Martian, Superboy and Artemis. After the first season, the story was broadened to focus on newer characters, taking viewers to different corners of the DC Universe in the process. And with this renewal, Young Justice will most likely continue to expand on the mythology it’s created.
