Casting 30 of our favorite Marvel and DC Comics superheroes and villains
By Mark Lynch
21. Red Hood
Jason Todd (Red Hood) was once Batman’s sidekick Robin. That was until the Joker killed him. When he came back, he became the Red Hood. Of all the members of the Bat-Family, he’s the one who doesn’t fit. Jason Todd believes some people should be killed and has no remorse pulling the trigger. Despite being an outcast among his family, he loves them. He just can’t show it because he has an image to maintain. Jason has to keep that harsh outer exterior.
A Red Hood project would be amazing. As a buddy of mine put it, Jason Todd is ninja Punisher. Red Hood is also one heck of a wise @$$. Adding the comedy to a dark movie involving Red Hood would fit what DC Comics is currently trying to do. Violent, but it’s still fun.
Our Dream Casting: Jensen Ackles
With everything we’ve seen from Jensen Ackles in Supernatural, there’s no way he wouldn’t succeed as Jason Todd. He has the gruff voice and he’d look believable fighting in Gotham city and arguing with Batman.
It also helps that he looked good in the costume as well. Like he popped right out of Red Hood and the Outlaws comic book. In the movie Under the Red Hood, Jensen Ackles voiced the Red Hood/Jason Todd. Last year, he dressed up as Red Hood and the internet went crazy. Despite his age, he’s a perfect pick. His age will add to Jason Todd’s look of being defeated by life.
