Casting 30 of our favorite Marvel and DC Comics superheroes and villains
By Mark Lynch
7. Black Widow
Black Widow has to do a lot. She has to be a spy, a master of seduction, look weak to fool her enemies, and be a believable bad-ass. Scarlett Johansson did all of that and did it well for nine years in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
A lot of people didn’t think she would be able to pull this off, but she did. So much so that she’ll be in her own solo movie in 2020.
Maybe Johansson’s most memorable time as Black Widow was in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. She had to really play a spy. She was incredibly entertaining and funny while beating the snot out of bad guys. The next actress to play Natasha Romanoff will need to have all the layers I’ve mentioned here.
Our Dream Casting: Daisy Ridley
Black Widow has to look tough and make it believable. It’s a good thing we know this to be the case for Daisy Ridley. Daisy took her role as Rey in the Star Wars movies seriously. Not only did she continuously go through workouts to stay in shape, but she went through sword training as well. This is one of the reasons that she looked near flawless during her action scenes.
Dedication like this is always appreciated by the fans. She would do the same thing as Black Widow. Daisy Ridley would be a welcomed addition to the MCU. Especially since she’s already worked on one Disney company.
