The Falcon and the Winter Soldier: Could this really be what it’s about?

The Rumor
On his show, Kevin Smith asked writer and co-host Marc Bernadin if Sam Wilson would become Captain America in the upcoming series (starts at the 59 minute mark). “That, I think, is the crux of what that show’s going to be,” Bernardin said. “The government doesn’t want Sam Wilson to be Captain America.” The article on Comicbook.com does leave some doubt. The article also said, “Bernadin goes on to say that he read this information but doesn’t say where.” For all we know, this could be a script that will never be used. However, this could be true and, as a result, we’ve been given information that could rock the Disney Plus streaming service.
First off, whoa. This is a bold move. There will be people who’ll turned off by this. Going after the government means that there’s going to be some political topics that sometimes make people a bit uneasy. Disney’s new streaming service could lose subscribers before the platform is even launched by alienating a certain group of people. This does let fans know they are going to create content the way they want to and are not not afraid of potential backlash. With a story revolving around Sam Wilson and the government, there are a couple of ways this could play out.
