The Falcon and the Winter Soldier: Could this really be what it’s about?

Two ways this story can go

This could be about the U.S. Government having been grooming someone for years to take over and become the new Captain America. A soldier they can send out to do missions without any questions asked. A puppet with blind loyalty. Steve Rogers was never going to be that for them. It goes against everything he stands for. Don’t be shocked if John F. Walker becomes U.S. Agent during this series. He may even be the first person Sam Wilson fights in this series, a good tune-up fight for him before the real trouble starts.

Second, this could have a hint of racism. We would be remiss if we thought that this wasn’t a way to get people to watch the show. Topics involving race are a hot topic. If used correctly, it could show people a side they wouldn’t normally see; it can be a gift eye opener. Show others who may not know what it’s like to be treated a certain way. However, this could be another way for them to lose viewers. The term “social justice warrior” has become a negative thing. People who want more representation in movies and shows have been looked at as negative. Some people may look at this and get upset enough to start campaigns to get a new creative staff and a new Captain America.

Regardless of what happens next, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is going to a talked about series. This alone is going to get the show free publicity. They’ll be promoting the show by tweeting, posting on Facebook, and writing articles about what they think (D’oh!). I’m all in for this series. What about you?
