Deadpool

The Merc with a Mouth became one of the most popular characters in comic books. What’s funny is it seemed to happen overnight.

He has all the humor of Spider-Man (he may even be funnier) and the violence of Punisher. Add all that with depth to his personality and an actor (Ryan Reynolds) who was born to play this role, and you have an immediate hit in the theaters. His movies are some of the more original comic book projects. This is probably the reason why fans ran to the movies. With 20th Century Fox being bought by Disney, Marvel Studios now has the rights to the Deadpool franchise. People may want to see him on the Avengers, but this would be a terrible idea.

Deadpool is an R-rated character plain and simple. Putting him on the Avengers stifles him. However, putting him on the Avengers means he’ll be around other characters. Since he won’t be the star, he can get away with not being himself wholly. But there’s the problem. Taking away a character’s personality is an easy way to make fans mad.

Despite these sentiments, we all know Deadpool will likely be an Avenger. His character has generated too much money for him not to be on the premier team.
