Insomniac Games: Are we ready for another Hulk game?
1. Game Developer to produce the Hulk game should be…
Could it not be that obvious? Who else could develop the next-gen and current gen Marvel game based on one of the most powerful beings on Earth and the universe? Insomniac Games — the same company that worked on the very game that was the talk of 2018.
Now, we previously mentioned the game companies that we should go with to move forward to with this potential Hulk game, but I would prefer a co-production, the main credit going to Insomniac. Yes, this second-party developer has the commitment, drive and personality to take on an IP that has been floundering in the game market and only brought into light by the rest of the Avengers.

Quick recap: It was previously mentioned that Activision should serve as publisher, and its subsidiary and first-party developer, Beenox, from Canada would work on game assets with Streamline Studios. However, Insomniac should complete that trifecta in co-producing the game in bulk. That means while Activision will take a percentage off royalties from the sales, as does Marvel in regards to the transaction of the merchandising rights, though that is a business lesson left for another day.
While the greatest concern is this, rather, unusual business model may pose a risk in regards to sharing the gross profits, the key is making agreements between one another. Marvel and Insomniac are unlikely to upset the partnership. Plus, Activision has a track record of doing business with Marvel in the past. This goes back to what was discussed about the nature between the respective parties being complimentary rather than just being a co-funding partnership.
A partnership, such as this, which in addition would mean outsourcing from an external developer, while mitigating costs with a greater increase of workforce and minimal risk being decreased to moderate due to revenue and costs of game development being shared amongst one another, nevertheless, the company of whom that would take a hit the most would be Insomniac if sales ever was to tank. Activision fronting the bill for publishing (typically meaning the game’s advertising, distribution and marketing) would not hurt its bottom line. And they would not be liable for quality of gameplay and initial fan reactions.
Insomniac, Marvel and others, with all of those components and elements to add, are what it takes to make a better Hulk game. With our green friend surviving the Snap of the Mad Titan’s fingers and having concluded his arc in Avengers: Endgame, the character’s popularity in comics and other media is better than ever. He’s even set to appear in Marvel’s Avengers developed by Crystal Dynamics, Eidos Montréal and published by Square Enix. There is no time like the present to develop a standalone Hulk game, and maybe, just maybe, give Universal Pictures an idea of how it can be done effectively on the big screen.
