Bombshell

What’s the one thing that makes for a great hero? You guessed it — a tragic origin story. For Lana Baumgartner (Bombshell) that story starts with her mother in prison. Her mother, Lori, was in jail and was given time off her sentence if she let people experiment on her. The experiment was a success. It gave her explosive energy blasts she could shoot from her hands. Later, she overheard one of the scientists say that she was pregnant.

After hearing this, she blasted her way out, ran away, and raised her daughter. “Raised” is a loose term in this situation. Instead of trying to help Lana, she trained her daughter to use her powers to rob banks. If it wasn’t for the friendship of Peter Parker, Miles Morales, and other heroes, she would have never given up her life of crime.

Bombshell isn’t one of the more popular characters. She made her first appearance in 2009 and has remained a side character. That doesn’t mean she isn’t worthy of a show, though. If anything, this makes her a better candidate. She can go on all-new adventures and do different things, since people won’t complain about continuity.

There have been a good amount of shows geared towards teens. Bombshell could be another show with a different twist. She’s still in school and still dealing with her anger and abandonment issues stemming from her mother being a criminal. All while having to be a teenager, as if that isn’t bad enough.
