Jubilee

Before you dismiss this, let’s take a look at Jubilation Lee’s personality. She’s upbeat, witty, fun, and has a bright powerset that hasn’t been utilized properly. She’s also been popular in comic books and on Fox’s X-Men: The Animated Series in the 1990s. She’s been on more adventures than a lot of characters in her position, and she’s even saved Wolverine.

Jubilee isn’t one of the best X-Men when it comes to fighting and accomplishments, but that doesn’t mean she isn’t fun and entertaining. Because she can and has been more entertaining than a lot of our favorite characters.

Using Jubilee’s origin could be an opportunity to cash in on the nostalgia market. Netflix’s Stranger Things has shown us that placing a show in the past works, if it’s done properly. Jubilee was a 1990s mallrat. Bringing her back to those days can bring in adults. Since her mutant powers aren’t aggressive, this works with ABC’s current family-friendly programming.

Marvel Studios hasn’t announced any concrete plans to bring the X-Men into the Marvel Cinematic Universe yet. A cool way to bring some attention to them could be thinking outside the box. Everyone is expecting characters like Wolverine or the original X-Men to kick off the X-Men franchise. Using Jubilee gives the creators time to plan a phase to include the X-Men and still debut mutants.
