X-23

Laura Kinney (X-23) wasn’t always an experiment working for a very Weapon X-like group called the Facility. Her next stop after that wasn’t with the X-Men, either. In fact, X-23’s first appearance was in a comic book called NYX, a series that revolved around a group of homeless mutants. That alone would be enough to pull at people’s emotions. Unfortunately for Laura, there’s more.

The Facility never stopped chasing her. One of the women there used to take pleasure in physically torturing Laura, despite having a terrible upbringing, as well. Laura may not talk a lot, but that doesn’t mean she wouldn’t be a good lead.

X-23 is one of the few characters that continues to grow as time goes on. She used to never speak at all. Now, she even makes jokes. Granted, they usually involve some sort of physical violence like impalement or decapitation, but it’s still funny. It would be interesting to watch her transform from a weapon to a teenager and eventually an adult in the span of a series.

There’s also the emotional moments where she has to fight the urge to completely disembowel someone. This wouldn’t be the type of show that entire family could sit down and watch. Then again, who said she needs to be a murderous heroine? She could still be an amazing fighter without having to kill everyone she battles.
