Batwoman’s big bad takes center stage in new teaser

Alice is set to make her presence felt on Gotham City very soon, but before she does, check out the brand new Batwoman trailer.

The CW’s Arrowverse is continuing to grow. With four shows (Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow) already on the air, the shared universe of superheroes will welcome Batwoman into the fray this fall, as Kate Kane takes up her cousin’s mantle as Gotham City’s new Dark Knight.

The character first made her presence felt in last season’s Elseworlds crossover, which saw The Monitor give the city’s villainous Doctor John Deegan the opportunity to rewrite reality in his image and, as a result, she reluctantly helped Green Arrow, The Flash and Supergirl retrieve the Book of Destiny and take it out of Gotham.

However, while she will be dragged into the Crisis-themed issues later this year, she’s going to be spending the first season of her own show at odds with her very own Joker-like Big Bad.

We first met Alice in the show’s problematic first trailer, and now, The CW has given us a slightly better chance to get to know the character, unveiling an Alice-centric teaser. Check it out below:

Anyone who has read the comics will know that Alice is an unhinged individual – and one that will undoubtedly derive pleasure from torturing the unsuspecting citizens of Gotham in the absence of the Caped Crusader.

The trailer, of course, plays on that – once again echoing the “curiouser and curiouser” line we heard her speak in the full-length trailer, as she slowly makes her way through a grim, almost supernatural-like tea party set.

The clip also plays on Batwoman’s debut, as a series of newspaper headlines speculate if Kate’s arrival could mean the return of Batman himself.

But will they figure out that Gotham has a new hero and, perhaps more importantly, will that new hero be able to stop the madness that Alice has unleashed upon the city?
