Arrow veteran Katie Cassidy Rodgers recently directed her first episode, and co-star Stephen Amell has nothing but praise for her.

There’s no team quite like the Green Arrow and Black Canary.

Together, the iconic pair dominated the world of DC Comics for decades, before going on to do it in live-action in The CW’s hit series Arrow. And it’s clear that the dream-team energy translates off-screen as well, as Stephen Amell has praised his leading lady, Katie Cassidy Rodgers.

Cassidy Rodgers, who currently portrays Earth-2’s Dinah Laurel Lance/Black Canary – the formerly villainous Black Siren – on the show made her directorial debut this season, when she directed the third episode of Season 8.

With production on the episode wrapping up last week, Amell (who portrays Oliver Queen/Green Arrow) took to Instagram to applaud his long-time co-star, commenting:

"““I would really like to congratulate Katie! This was her first episode directing and she did a really, really lovely job!”"

Undoubtedly a lovely compliment to give her, he would reveal that her determined approach agreed with his, while also revealing that he doesn’t think this will be the last time she ventures behind the camera:

"“She doesn’t like to do a lot of takes, which I like. Just, in general, I’m sure it can be really intimidating but she gave a lot to the actors and was really positive and just, put me in a position where frankly I wanted to deliver a good performance for her because she deserves it. Yeah, she’ll direct again! She was really great!”"

With Arrow‘s final season upon us, it’s great that one of its longest-running cast members was able to step behind the camera for the first time, and it’s great that her long-time co-lead Amell was so positive of her directorial debut.

However, Cassidy Rodgers won’t be the only Arrowverse star directing an episode of their respective show this season, as David Ramsey will once direct an episode of Arrow, while Danielle Panabaker will also direct her second episode of The Flash.

Who knows, maybe the Black Canary will set her sights on the director’s chair more often going forward. After all, it sounds like she’s a natural!

One thing’s for sure: We can’t wait to see her episode!
