Arrow gets a ton of praise for the key part it played in kick-starting the Arrowverse and, in case you didn’t get it from the name of that shared universe, it’s all well-deserved. That said, Arrow itself may not even exist if it weren’t for the overwhelming success of The WB/CW’s Smallville.

Running for 10 seasons between 2001 and 2011, the series told the origin story of Superman as a young gifted Clark Kent struggled to find his place in high school, and later Metropolis, all while he attempted to figure out how to use those gifts for the greater good. And, thanks to Tom Welling’s endearing performance, Clark became a far more interesting character than he had perhaps ever been.

With all of that in mind, it’s imperative that the Arrowverse pays tribute to the world of Smallville during Crisis On Infinite Earths. Granted, we may already have both Tyler Hoechlin and Brandon Routh’s Men of Steel, but fans have been longing to see Welling don the iconic suit that we were robbed of seeing in the Smallville series finale – and given that Welling is due to appear in Arrow‘s final season, we just may see it happen.

With both the show’s Kent Farm and the iconic “Save Me” theme song by Remy Zero popping up in last season’s Elseworlds crossover, it’s safe to say that the Arrowverse isn’t afraid of honoring its unofficial founding father, and this would be the ultimate way of making that happen.
