Krypton fans continue to rally to save show from cancellation
The past three days have been hard for fans of the Syfy series Krypton but, with the show’s cancellation, the outcry has grown into action.
Krypton as a planet was always doomed, but not as a series. Fans have caused an uproar on Twitter after the series and the potential Lobo series was axed over the weekend. The hashtag #SaveKrypton has trended in at least two countries, the US and UK. There has also been a petition started to get the show back on the air as it worked for The Expanse which was also axed by Syfy.
As of the writing, the Krypton petition has almost 1.5k signatures. It’s far from the massive 130k signatures that The Expanse petition got, but it’s gaining traction as it has already passed a few milestones. Fans are desperate to get the Superman prequel back on the air since there were storylines set up for the next season.
To say Krypton would get canceled might seem harsh, but the signs were all there. The premiere for the second season was misplaced from last year’s series premiere last March. Ratings were the major factor because, without them, the show didn’t enough to renew it. In simpler words, ratings equal money which goes towards renewal. Now, fans are fighting back with full-fledged force.

The cast and crew have already issued statements of their own, saying goodbye to fans and thanking them for their support since the show’s debut. However, showrunner Cameron Welsh hinted at the possibility that they’re looking at other options. This news has been suggested by media outlets all weekend but to have a member of the crew confirm it themselves is good news. Still, t’s not the news fans want.
If the series is picked up by another network, there are suggestions for where the show’s new home might be. Fans and the media think the new HBO Max streaming service may be the way to go. Others suggest:
- Netflix
- Hulu
- Amazon (like The Expanse)
The most likely place for Krypton to go is DC Universe because the first season is already at home there. Also, the platform already has a history of saving shows as it did with Young Justice after a nearly six-year hiatus. Perhaps, DCU might be the saving grace for Seg’s adventures. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens next.
Also, Welsh shared with fans a look at what the premiere episode of season 3 would’ve been. Jor-El would have been raised on Earth by Brainiac to be a bully to a school kid whom he kills with laser vision. If Seg and Nyssa knew their son was being raised to be evil, they would go crazy.
