The Mandalorian, the first live-action Star Wars series, has released its first trailer.

The Mandalorian trailer has been released and what a delight it was. Jon Favreau mentioned that he enjoyed the darker side of Star Wars, describing the Mad Max aspects of the series, and The Mandalorian seems to promise just that.

There was not really much known about this series except for the man in charge, Jon Favreau. Now that a trailer is out, it is clear that this series is exactly what Favreau has hyped it up to be — something that envokes the original trilogy with modern technology and sensibilities. Check out the trailer below:

The Disney Plus series is set after Return of the Jedi but before The Force Awakens. The description of the YouTube video describes The Mandalorian as:

"After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. “The Mandalorian” is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic."

The Mandalorian looks like what the Star Wars spinoff movies should have been. The continuation of the Skywalker trilogy has yet to be concluded, so it’s too soon to give a full critique of what Disney has done to continue the prequel and original trilogies. Rogue One and Solo have been divisive amongst Star Wars fans.

One problem with those spinoff movies has been the small world they seem to exist in. Star Wars is a gigantic universe. Even with the new canon, there are a lot of stories to tell from across the universe.

The Mandalorian has a Star Wars look to it but has the feeling of something new and unique. The Stormtrooper helmets on stakes and an action scene in a cantina bar hint at more mature and gritty action.

There is also the promise of an interesting supporting cast around Pedro Pascal who will be playing the titular character, along with some amazing shots of Carl Weathers and Giancarlo Esposito. Gina Carano looks to be playing another bounty hunter, possibly introducing an interesting world of bounty hunters that may become fan-favorites like the famous bounty hunter Boba Fett.

The trailer was short, and its purpose was to showcase tone and style, which it accomplished by showing off an outstanding production style that Disney is bringing out one of their first Disney Plus series and first live-action Star Wars series.

It was interesting to note that Pascal did not speak at all throughout the trailer. Perhaps Favreau will be taking the full Mad Max approach with a mostly silent protagonist surrounded by enigmatic characters.

The one speaking line that we did hear was fantastic. Werner Herzog is mainly known for his documentary films and his voiceover work in them. He will play a role in The Mandalorian and only Herzog can deliver this line, “Bounty hunting is a complicated profession. Don’t you agree?”

Next. Ming-Na Wen added to Jon Favreau’s The Mandalorian. dark

It was a Herzog line delivered so brilliantly that it does not take you out of the trailer, but rather it builds even more anticipation for The Mandalorian.

The Mandalorian will start streaming on Disney Plus’ launch date of November 12th. Are you excited for the show? Let us know in the comments down below.
