Rahul Kohli, who played Jack Spheer in one episode of Supergirl season two, has been sharing cryptic images of himself with cast and props.

Supergirl returns this October along with the rest of the Arrowverse shows. While we already know Leviathan is going to play a significant role in the new season, the hot topic for everyone is the “Crisis on Infinite Earths” crossover taking place later in the year across all five shows. The cast list for the upcoming Arrowverse seasons seems to be growing because, now, it seems that Supergirl may have added a new member to the show. Or has it?

Rahul Kohli, who had appeared in one episode of Supergirl season two as Biomax CEO Jack Spheer, seems to be teasing his return to the show. Over the last couple of days, Kohli has shared several cryptic images on his Twitter account – one of Supergirl’s boot, one with him and David Harewood (who plays Martian Manhunter on the show), as well as a picture of his trailer with “Jack Spheer” written on it. So it looks like Jack might be making a comeback to the show.

Kohli’s Jack Spheer had been introduced as a futurist with the intent to save lives with his new medical technology. He also had history with Katie McGrath’s Lena Luther; the two of them were not only research partners but also romantic partners. They had parted ways when Lena chose family over her research with Jack.

Jack had been killed when his Biomax partner, Beth Breen, threatened Lena and Supergirl. In fact, during his sole episode appearance, Lena was the one who killed Jack when he pleaded with her to do it so as to save the world. All this makes us wonder how the character will reappear again. Could Jack have survived because of the nanotech in his system? Or will viewers meet a different version of him from another Earth during the crossover?

Here’s hoping this is an alt-Earth Jack because, if Lena finds out one more person lied to her, it may just push her over the edge into becoming a full-on supervillain, just like her brother Lex Luthor.

At the end of season four of Supergirl, Lena discovered that Kara Danvers had been lying to her about her dual identity as the Girl of Steel and her friend Kara. If on top of that, it turns out Lena’s ex-boyfriend survived but didn’t tell her, there may be no coming back for the character.

The likeliest possibility, though, is that Kohli will feature alongside the ever-growing cast of alternate Earth characters in the crossover event. Whatever the case, Kohli remains a popular addition due to his role in iZombie, and we are excited to see him return, in whichever form, on Supergirl.

Supergirl returns to The CW for season five on October 6.
