Wolverine and the 25 greatest X-Men characters of all-time
By Mark Lynch
17. Colossus
Colossus has been the muscle of the X-Men for decades. When Juggernaut comes crashing through their mansion, when Wolverine needs a fastball special, or if they need something destroyed, he’s the one they call on. Despite his strength, Piotr Rasputin is a kind person.
While he can fight well, he’d prefer not to. He’d much rather talk things out than throw a punch. He also spends a good amount of time painting. It seems to calm soothe him after a day of fighting. Colossus has been an X-Man for a long time. The only time he wasn’t a compassionate person was when he gained the power of Cyttorak and the Phoenix Force.
Colossus is one of the most popular X-Men. It helps that his shiny metal skin is easily recognized. Colossus wasn’t represented well in the X-Men movies. It wasn’t that he was bad. He just didn’t get enough screen time. It’s a good thing he was in the Deadpool projects. This was the perfect place for him to get a bit of a reboot.
Going forward, Colossus could continue to be one of the best characters in comics and the MCU. He’s the gentle giant. Something that rarely gets seen in movies. Giant muscle guys tend to be evil or too brutish.
