Wolverine and the 25 greatest X-Men characters of all-time
By Mark Lynch
14. Apocalypse
En Sabah Nur was the first mutant. Born with blue skin and those weird lips he still has, his appearance scared the primitive people and he was quickly abandoned. As a baby, Apocalypse was a survivor. He lived after being tossed away and was rescued by Baal. He saw what the baby could become and raised him. Now we know who to blame for Apocalypse slaughtering millions of people over the centuries.
There’s another you can blame as well. Nathan Dayspring Summer a.k.a. Cable. Some of Cable’s techno organic virus got into En Sabah Nur and helped save his life after Cable shot him. Gotta love time travel.
Apocalypse is one of the X-Men’s most powerful enemies. It takes the entire might of their team and some careful planning to take Apocalypse down. He was also a hit in the 1990’s animated cartoon. While his powers were fun, it was also his speeches that made him popular. His speeches could have come off boring, but they added to his greatness.
Going forward, the MCU should embrace everything that he was in the cartoon and comics. Fans of comic book movies love when villains give heartfelt speeches that are well performed. In Powers of X, we see that Apocalypse is still a major factor in the future. Proving that he will always survive.
