12. Iceman

Bobby Drake is The Flash of the Marvel Comics Universe. People think that all Iceman does is make ice just like they assume all Flash does is run fast. Both of these assumptions are an oversimplification of their powers.

Iceman can control moisture in the air. While he uses it to freeze things, he’s capable of doing more than just shooting ice beams. Over the last five or so years, Iceman has frozen Hell, created winter across the globe, and learned how to make sentient ice creatures. A big jump from someone who used to only threw snowballs.

Bobby Drake is more than just his humor. He has layers. He’s always been insecure and hid it by using jokes as a defense mechanism. He recently came out as gay and it seemed like being more open about himself helped him reach new levels with his powers. It was also a blessing that Marvel didn’t make him defined by his sexuality while still acknowledging it.

Iceman is another character that wasn’t represented well by 20th Century Fox. It’ll be great to see if Marvel Studios can make him funny and loveable Bobby Drake we’ve seen in the comics. Especially since his levity can be on the same level as Spider-Man and Deadpool.
