11. Kitty Pryde

Remember young Kitty Pryde? The little girl who used to flirt with Colossus? The teenager that couldn’t fight well, but was still brave when it was time for adventures? Well, she hasn’t been that girl in a long time.

Kitty Pryde has gone through a lot. She’s been possessed by an evil spirit (Ogun) and trained with Wolverine to defeat it; lost her father and the love of her life; phased a giant bullet for months to save planets; and ran the X-Men. Nobody has had the consistent progression she has, not even Wolverine. The creators took their time to make her the character she is today. The best part is that she’s not close to plateauing.

With most of the characters above, what you see is what you get. Apocalypse, Beast, and Cable will always be who they are. Kitty Pryde’s maturity continues to grow.  For example, it looks like she’s dropping another childish thing about her. She’ll now go by Kate instead of Kitty and will be running a team called the Marauders. It’ll be interesting to see what she does with this team. Taking the name that was synonymous with villains and having Emma Frost is a nice twist. Especially since Kate hates Emma.
