8. Gambit

Gambit is one of the most popular X-Men of all time. His powers look cool, he’s a great fighter, and he had a mysterious past which made people fall in love with him. Gambit’s fame was heightened when the 1990’s animated X-Men series debuted. At that point he may have been more beloved than Wolverine.

It isn’t just his adventurous nature that made him a star. His charm was a big part of it. He was a smooth talker and a romantic. Watching him fawn over Rogue was beautiful. You could tell he really loved her. He may have seemed promiscuous, but he only had eyes for Rogue. No matter what happened, we always hoped they’d end up together. It was great when they finally got married in X-Men Gold and stayed together during and after Mr. and Mrs. X.

Gambit should have been more popular. We should have gotten a solo Gambit movie a decade ago. The fact that he wasn’t in any X-Men movies until or since X-Men Origins: Wolverine is a travesty. And, let’s be honest, we all know the Channing Tatum Gambit movie is never happening.

Despite all of that, Gambit remains popular. This proves that he has star power. Not many comic book characters can be recognized without a movie or TV show. It’s been years since Gambit has been in either and he’s still a fan favorite. Let’s hope Marvel Studios does right by him.
