6. Jean Grey

It was difficult trying to figure out who was more important between Xavier and Jean Grey. On one hand, Xavier was great in the movies and important to the birth of the X-Men. On the other hand, you have Jean Grey, a person who’s consistently been on the frontline of the X-Men from the beginning. Someone who’s literally sacrificed her life for her team and the universe. That last part is major.

Jean Grey was a factor before she could really use her powers. When she gained control of them fully, she was almost unstoppable. There were times when even Xavier couldn’t contain her.

There’s a reason why we always get Jean Grey in the X-Men projects. She’s crucial to the story. She’s an omega level mutant who was once the host of the most powerful entity in the universe. We’ve seen her put fear in the eyes of some powerful people. Yet she remains her compassionate self.

Recently, she was the leader of a team (X-Men Red). A role she should have been in before. Without Jean Grey, the X-Men would have been beaten and destroyed a long time ago. As a teammate, she’s helped train some of the younger X-Men and been a crucial part of their victories. She’s definitely one of the reasons Wolverine became a kinder and gentler person.
