10. Stargirl

Premiere Date: Early 2020

The DC Universe will be giving life to Courtney Whitmore’s star-spangled superhero sometime next year when Brec Bassinger takes on the titular role in a brand new series that will see Stargirl utilize the iconic staff to inspire a new generation of superheroes.

Even with the premiere on the horizon, most of the plot details remain unknown – but given the high standard of every DC Universe original show thus far, it’s safe to assume that Stargirl will follow in their footsteps.

9. Black Lightning (Season 3)

Premiere date: October 7, 2019

Black Lightning is something of an anomaly. Not only is it the only non-Arrowverse superhero show to take place on a network overflowing with Arrowverse superhero shows, it has its own unique brand of heroism that you just can’t find anywhere else. It’s gritty, realistic and incredibly compelling, and it’s also not afraid to shy away from relevant issues.

The third season will undoubtedly continue the story of Jefferson Pierce and his lightning-powered daughters as they all seek to make Freeland a safer place. The show has already succeeded in providing fans with a strong sophomore outing, but can it buck the trend of poor third superhero seasons?

8. Watchmen

Premiere Date: October 20, 2019

HBO’s upcoming Watchmen TV series has indeed achieved its desire to confuse its viewers and, although it’s a somewhat “remixed” interpretation of the original source material, it could end up being every bit as amazing.

While there are concerns that it will be too far removed from the beloved comics, it boasts an incredibly strong cast, including Regina King, Don Johnson, Jeremy Irons and Frances Fisher, who will all undoubtedly guide it to greatness.
