5. Supergirl (Season 5)

Premiere Date: October 6, 2019

Supergirl ascended to new heights during its fourth season as it tackled hard-hitting storylines centred on discrimination, segregation and fake news. The show always excels when it attempts to use its storylines as a metaphor to say more – and that’s exactly what happened here. However, not even that was enough to steal the show away from Jon Cryer’s mesmerising performance as the almighty Lex Luthor.

With Lex’s fate up in the air, Lena now aware that Kara is the Girl of Steel and the arrival of J’onn J’onzz’s evil twin brother – not to mention the impending Crisis – Supergirl could be set to ascend into the stratosphere next season.

4. Doom Patrol (Season 2)

Premiere Date: 2020

DC Universe’s answer to Legends of Tomorrow, Doom Patrol compiled an eclectic collection of the most unique and off-the-wall characters you’ll ever have the pleasure of coming across and, oh boy, did it work.

With satirical humour the whole way throughout and an always-compelling narrative at its heart, the surprisingly mature show made heroes out of Jane, Rita Farr, Mr. Nobody, Negative Man, Robotman, Cyborg and The Chief and, in doing so, won the hearts of the countless people who watched it. It was so popular and so well-received that it even went on to eclipse its own parent show Titans.
