Margot Robbie and 10 superhero actors you didn’t know were soap stars
8. Justin Hartley
Long before Stephen Amell was brooding things up with his compelling turn as Oliver Queen on The CW’s Arrow, Justin Hartley was delivering an equally compelling performance as a more comic-accurate version of the character on that very same network.
It’s true, Smallville‘s Green Arrow was as sassy, charming and charismatic as his comic book counterpart and, despite the fact that he didn’t come into the show until the sixth season, fans took to him incredibly well due to Hartley’s infectiously energetic performance.
The actor is also known in the superhero world due to the fact that he starred as the titular character in a once-unreleased Aquaman TV pilot (the plan for a series was dropped after The CW decided not to commission it after the WB/UPN merger) but he’s also no stranger to soap operas.
He portrayed the fan-favorite character Nicholas Foxworth Crane (or as he was affectionately known as: “Fox”) on NBC’s Passions for a four-year period prior to joining Smallville. However, he returned to the soap opera scene after the Superman-inspired series ended, starring as Adam Newman in CBS’ The Young and The Restless from 2012 until 2014.
It’s good to see that, in spire of the heroic heights he reached, Hartley still made time to return to the soap scene.
