Margot Robbie and 10 superhero actors you didn’t know were soap stars
3. Margot Robbie
Margot Robbie has had quite the surge to the top of Hollywood over the past decade. Making her U.S. debut in the short-lived NBC series Pan Am, she went on to star in The Wolf Of Wall Street alongside Leonardo DiCaprio and has since become a household name – going onto appear in the likes of Focus, The Legend of Tarzan and most recently, her critically-acclaimed turn in I, Tonya.
If that’s not enough success, she’s perhaps best known to mainstream audiences for her role in DC’s Extended Universe as Harley Quinn which, in spite of the fact that she debuted in 2016’s critically-marred Suicide Squad, is incredibly accurate to the source material and nothing short of outstanding. After Warner Bros. spent the next few years figuring out where to use her next, it was announced that she will reprise her role in 2020’s Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn).
However, long before she reached Gotham City (or even the bright lights of Hollywood), Robbie was busy impressing Australian and British viewers on the beloved Aussie soap Neighbours – a soap that is even more popular in the UK than it is in its country of origin.
Appearing between 2008 and 2011, Robbie portrayed Donna Freedmen – a character who was once obsessed with local musician Ty Harper and rubbed quite a few people up the wrong way. However, upon realising the error of her ways, Donna made friends with many of Erinsborough and Ramsey Street’s regular characters – quickly becoming a fan-favorite in the process.
