15. “The Star City Slayer” (Episode 13)

“The Star City Slayer” really benefited from its horror movie vibe, which made parts of it genuinely terrifying, and it felt like a strong, if rushed, culmination to Stanley’s storyline. Unfortunately, it was all just an excuse to write Oliver’s more interesting child out and replace him with another.

14. “Living Proof” (Episode 21)

The fallout of the previous episode left Oliver trapped under a pile of rubble and he was so beat-up that he ended up hallucinating Tommy Merlyn. Of course, it was wonderful to see Colin Donnell back as Tommy, but the hallucination trope all felt a little too convenient and, at this stage, how many times does Oliver’s pig-headedness have to result in someone talking him around?

13. “Inheritance” (Episode 17)

It was nice to finally see Emiko step up as a compelling character after her cover was blown by Laurel, as this was finally the episode in which she positioned herself as a formidable rival to her vigilante brother. And it was also nice to see how her origins transformed her into the villain that she was.

12. “You Have Saved This City” (Episode 22)

The Season 7 finale came out of the gate firing on all cylinders as the outlawed Team Arrow recruited Curtis Holt and returning Black Canary Laurel Lance to help them stop Emiko’s attacks. Unfortunately, the episode’s change of pace midway through completely undermined the whole season’s storylines in a rushed attempt to give Felicity a woefully long (though sweet) send-off.
