The original Flash will return to the Arrowverse for the heavily-anticipated Crisis On Infinite Earths crossover.

It’s safe to say that the upcoming Arrowverse crossover, Crisis On Infinite Earths, is the most eagerly-anticipated superhero event of the second half of 2019.

The groundbreaking event will see Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow, Batwoman and Black Lightning cross over in an epic five-part TV spectacle as viewers will witness something that has been five years in the making.

However, you now have another reason to get excited for the crossover, as according to TV Insider, John Wesley Shipp will make his Arrowverse return in the midst of it.

Shipp is, of course, best known for portraying the Scarlet Speedster in the original 1990 TV series The Flash, but he has also become an Arrowverse stalwart over the past five years. On The CW’s 2014 Flash TV series, he played Henry Allen – the father to Grant Gustin’s Barry Allen – and the Earth-3 Flash, Jay Garrick.

Last year, however, he got the chance to wear his iconic Scarlet Speedster uniform again as he was officially introduced into the Arrowverse as Earth-90’s Flash – whose earth had been ravaged by one of The Monitor’s tests.

While it has yet to be revealed which of his characters Shipp will be portraying in Crisis On Infinite Earths, it will be great to see the legendary actor in action once again. Quite frankly, Crisis wouldn’t have been complete without him.

He will join Batman 1966 legend Burt Ward, Batman: The Animated Series voice icon Kevin Conroy, Superman Returns‘ Man of Steel (and Legends‘ own) Brandon Routh and both Supergirl‘s Man of Steel and Lex Luthor Tyler Hoechlin and John Cryer as some of the crossover’s major guest stars.

Crisis On Infinite Earths will arrive on Sunday, Dec. 8 at 8:00 p.m., with a special episode of Supergirl before continuing into episodes of Batwoman and The Flash in the same time-slot over the following two nights. It will then conclude with a special two-part event on Tuesday, Jan. 14, starting with a special episode of Arrow at 8:00 p.m. and concluding on DC’s Legends of Tomorrow at 9:00 p.m.
